This, Not This: Vol. 12

Fall Jackets: Part 2

When shopping for outerwear, try my tips to give these 5 classic styles a more updated look.

The BOMBER

Opt for a stiffer fabrication when it comes to a bomber so they can be dressed up and/or down. While the nylon is fun and sporty, you won’t be able wear it with the same flexibility as the more structured one.

I also love them in darker colors, they look/feel more expensive.

Style to Shop: Ameliever Cropped Bomber $35.99

The PLAID OVERCOAT

If you want to add a printed overcoat to your wardrobe, I prefer an oversized print in a darker tone over a lighter or colored one. They key here is to stick with the classics over novelty prints or finishes.

Style to Shop: DKNY Women's Plaid Maxi Wrap Coat $254.99

The QUILTED COAT

This is one of my favorite weekend coats for the season, but opt for a style that has some color blocking or mixed media elements to elevate the more off-duty/casual vibe. It’s also more luxe looking in these rich neutrals.

Style to Shop: Amente Patch Quilted Wool Blend Coat $285.00

The WHITE COAT

White coats are not the easiest to wear or keep clean, but if you’re going to dare to wear one this season, look for something really uniquely designed  — otherwise white coats (esp in a boucle) can end up looking like a bathrobe!

Style to Shop: Acler Worcester Wool Coat $695.00Style to Shop: Boucle Longline Coat $130.00

And as always, do you. Wear what makes YOU happy — this is just what’s bringing me joy when it comes to fashion.
